Our Volunteer Regional Representatives

Kirstin Kennedy

A Certified Labour & Birth Doula and Mother to 3 wonderful kids, Kirstin lives in Niagara on the Lake and supports the entire Niagara Region. A trained Doula since November 2014 with the Healing Arts Learning Organization (which is now known as Doula Training Canada) and completed certification in September 2016. Bringing to the table a wealth of experience as a former Registered Nurse working mostly in Public Health.
Working with growing families has been a dream of Kirstins since she was quite young and she has a strong passion in supporting the ever growing Doula profession. Very excited to be the AOD's regional representative for Niagara and to offer support to other Doulas in her area.

Dawn Humphrey

Dawn is committed to helping families have meaningful and positive birth experiences.  She brings reassurance, encouragement, and information during pregnancy, birth and in postpartum care.  She is a Certified Birth Doula with DONA International and services Guelph, ON and surrounding area.  She is married to her best friend and a mom of two and understands how important it is for a family to be cared for and nurtured.

Dinah Gibbs

Dinah Gibbs trained first as an Agriculturist, leaving her native England in her mid twenties to work as a volunteer in Papua New Guinea. An initial two year commitment, turned to nine. By now she was married to Rick, a Canadian development worker, and they had a child. The family set up house in Richmond Hill where Dinah was warmly welcomed into the La Leche League community. She completed her leadership mere weeks before the family, now with a second child, left for a two year assignment to Indonesia.
On her return, Dinah continued several more years as a La Leche Leader, also volunteering at the local hospital in the lactation clinic and as a breastfeeding educator in childbirth education classes. During this time, Ontario Midwifery Education was established, and she applied, unsuccessfully, for three consecutive years. Fast forward twenty years and she found herself the mother of adult sons and grandmother of two. She connected with The York Region AOD, signed up for her first training and, eventually in 2015, became certified with DONA. Dinah loves being a doula. Every birth she attends is an honour and a privilege. Every baby who has been born to her beloved client families live in her heart forever.

Can't find a local representative?

If you live in an area that does not have a Regional Representative, please take some time to consider volunteering for your organization in this way. It is a rewarding experience and promises to enrich your career as a doula. Currently, DoulaCARE operates only in Ontario. For doula support in other provinces and territories, please refer to our Doula Links page.
